11 September 2018: DSLR Remote Pro v3.11.4 released

adding emojis to prints

This release adds the ability draw emojis/stickers/virtual props in the signing and drawing on prints screen. Emojis are defined using simple PNG images and you can either use the standard emojis that ship with DSLR Remote Pro or provide your own.

Improved interface options for "magic" mirror booths: the reprint selection screen now has the option to place the icons at the top of the screen and the print preview in the drawing and signing screen can be placed at the top of the screen.

This release also includes the following changes:

  • Improved support for the Canon EOS M50 mirrorless camera in photo booth mode
  • Added a "Reprint screen from video ready" touchscreen action to allow the reprint selection screen to be selected from the video ready screen
  • Fixed an issue with previously shared prints appearing in the background of the video sharing screen
  • Fixed an issue that caused a black background to appear in print layouts containing rotated photos (this issue only affected v3.11.3)

This release is a free upgrade for all registered users who purchased a license within the last year.

15 August 2018: DSLR Remote Pro v3.11.3 released

This release enhances the controls for placing photos within a green screen background: photos can be rotated and cropped and the existing controls for moving the photos left and right and up and down now allow negative offsets.

Videos captured in video booth mode can now be shared from the photo booth. An optional delay can be added before playing back videos in video booth mode to allow time for other apps or scripts to post process videos e.g. to green screen a video or to add overlays and soundtracks.

This release also fixes a problem with the sizing of live view overlays that affected v3.11.2 and an issue with the Canon EOS 1500D being incorrectly identified as a Canon EOS 500D.

This release is a free upgrade for all registered users who purchased a license within the last year.

3 August 2018: Flip Book Photobooth v1.8 released

This release adds the ability to print flip books from movie files, from boomerang GIFs created using DSLR Remote Pro and from photos capture using DSLR Remote Pro Multi-Camera. The files can be imported manually into Flip Book Photobooth and then reviewed before printing or they can be printed automatically when DSLR Remote Pro saves the animated GIF or DSLR Remote Pro Multi-Camera takes a set of photos.

This release also adds support for the Canon EOS M50, Canon EOS 1500D/EOS 2000D/Rebel T7, Canon EOS 200D/Rebel SL2, Canon EOS 3000D/EOS 4000D and Canon EOS 6D Mark II.

This is a free upgrade for all registered users who purchased a license within the last year.

24 July 2018: DSLR Remote Pro Multi-Camera v2.0 released

This release adds a photo booth mode which displays live view images from the center camera to make it easier for guests to position themselves. When start is pressed a countdown is displayed and the photos are taken. A preview photo is displayed from the center while the animated GIF or MP4 video is being processed and then the animated GIF or MP4 video is displayed.
Cameras can be triggered using TriggerBox camera triggers from Esper Design or Phidgets relays connected to other camera triggers. The software has a simplified interface for setting up TriggerBoxes and the help file contains detailed instructions on how to synchronize multiple cameras with flash.

The Multi-Camera Animator has been enhanced so that clicking on the calibration photos when aligning the cameras scales as well as rotates the photos making it much quicker and easier to align the cameras. The Multi-Camera Animator can also add an optional MP3 soundtrack to MP4 videos.

This release also adds support for Canon EOS 2000D/Rebel T7 (aka Canon EOS 1500D and Canon EOS Kiss X90), Canon EOS 4000D (aka Canon EOS 3000D) and Canon EOS M50 (aka Canon EOS Kiss M). Please note that the Canon EOS M50 and Canon EOS 3000D/Canon EOS 4000D are not recommended for event rigs where all the cameras need to be triggered at the same time because the cameras don't have remote release sockets. The Canon EOS 3000D/Canon EOS 4000D is also does not have support for external power.

This release is a free upgrade for all registered users who purchased a license within the last year.

28 May 2018: DSLR Remote Pro v3.11 released

This release adds a number of refinements for privacy and print quotas:

An option has been added to delete photos if they are rejected in the print confirmation screen. This will delete all copies of the photos including the photos downloaded from the camera, the JPEG copy of the print layout and the XML summary file. Use this option if you are concerned about privacy and need to be able to assure guests that their photos have been deleted if they reject them.

An optional information screen can be displayed when using the touchscreen keyboard. This screen can be used to provide additional information such as your privacy policy.

Tokens for accessing the print counters and whether the print quota are now available: {printQuotaUsed}, {printCounterEvent} and {printCounterLocal}. This allows the print counters to be displayed in captions on prints and also makes it possible to automate a photo booth with a fixed print quota e.g. by loading a "share only" profile when the print quota has been used.

2 May 2018: DSLR Remote Pro v3.10 released

Support for Canon EOS M50 mirrorless camera and slow motion video

Canon EOS M50 and EOS 2000D/Rebel T7

This release adds support for the Canon EOS M50 mirrorless camera, Canon EOS 2000D/Rebel T7 and Canon EOS 4000D.
The Canon EOS M50 is smaller and lighter than conventional DSLRs such as the Canon EOS 2000D/Rebel T7. The Canon EOS M50 is also the first model to support video capture at 120 fps. This makes it possible to capture high quality slow motion video in a photo booth without requiring any addional post processing. Video is captured at 120 fps without sound and is saved at 30 fps resulting in high quality play back at 1/4 normal speed.
The Canon EOS 2000D/Rebel T7 is an update of the Canon EOS 1300D/Rebel T6 and is virtually identical but with a higher resolution 24 mega pixel sensor. The Canon EOS 4000D is very similar to a Canon EOS 1300D/Rebel T6 with the same 18 mega pixel sensor but with cheaper build quality (plastic lens mount, fewer buttons, no remote release socket and no cable access for external power).

Summary of changes in this release:

  • Added support for the Canon EOS M50/EOS Kiss M
  • Added support for the Canon EOS 2000D/Rebel T7/EOS Kiss X90
  • Added support for the Canon EOS 4000D
  • The photo preview, print preview and share preview areas can now be edited using the touchscreen editor
  • Added the ability to resize, sharpen and add an overlay to the saved copy of the processed photos
  • Added the option to display an error message and disable printing when the print counters reach zero
  • Added the following keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+A for "Preview: accept", Ctrl+R for "Preview: retake", Ctrl+X for "Preview: abort"
  • Added the option to save XML copies of emails and texts
  • Privacy information added to the "Sharing Photos" section
  • Fixed an issue when using transparent green screen backgrounds with Instagram style filters or B&W styles
  • Fixed an issue with the full screen live view setting when the camera and screen are in portrait orientation
